About Cambodia Self Help Demining (CSHD)
Cambodia Self Help Demining (CSHD) is a Cambodian-led humanitarian demining organization working to remove landmines and unexploded ordnance from some of the country’s most heavily contaminated areas.
CSHD focuses on community-based demining, defined as empowering, training, and employing members of the local community to safely clear landmines and unexploded ordnance from land that directly affects their lives. This approach prioritizes farmland, villages, schools, and access routes, while ensuring that communities themselves are active participants in reclaiming and restoring their land. The organization was founded by Bill Morse, who has worked in Cambodia for decades and has been deeply involved in humanitarian demining and post-conflict recovery. CSHD operates in close coordination with local authorities and affected communities to ensure demining efforts respond to real, on-the-ground needs.
